Alsace bubbles made the same way as Champagne, from 100% Pinot Noir, by a family growing wine at Dambach-la-Ville since 1688. Three years on the lees, at a fraction of Champagne money.

Taste
Pale pink with fine, persistent bubbles. Forest fruit and a light citrus lift on the nose, then wild strawberry and bright citrus on the palate. Rich and harmonious, dry, with a long finish.

About the Winery/Winemaker
Les Vignobles Ruhlmann-Schutz have made wine at Dambach-la-Ville since 1688, and the estate took its current shape in 1994 when the Ruhlmann and Schutz families brought their vineyards together. Today it runs to 40 hectares across Dambach-la-Ville and four neighboring villages, planted between 175 and 420 meters on the Vosges foothills across granite, marl, sandstone and limestone. Alsace is the driest wine region in France, because the Vosges shield it from Atlantic weather. This rosé comes off clay-limestone soils.

Why We Love It
This is the bottle for when Champagne is the instinct and the budget says otherwise. Same method, same patience, a third of the price. We poured it to open our Wines of France dinner. Serve it very cold as an aperitif, or alongside strawberries and cream.
