Crafted by renowned winemaker Carlos Alves, Kopke Fine Ruby Port exemplifies the excellence of Portugal's oldest port wine house. This classic port strikes a perfect balance between tradition and accessibility.
Vineyard & Heritage
Our port begins its journey in the steep terraces of the Douro Valley, where traditional grape varieties thrive in schist-sandstone soils at elevations up to 600 meters. Both historic horizontal terraces and modern vertical plantings contribute to the wine's distinct character.
Winemaking
Each grape is hand-harvested at optimal ripeness and carefully vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. After fortification with grape brandy, the wine matures for a minimum of three years in a combination of steel and wood, developing its characteristic depth and complexity.
Tasting Profile
This Fine Ruby Port displays an alluring deep ruby color with a garnet rim. Fresh fruit aromas lead to a firm, powerful palate that culminates in a long, harmonious finish. At 19.5% alcohol, it offers perfect balance with 102 g/dm³ of residual sugar.
Serving & Storage
Best enjoyed between 12-14°C, this port pairs beautifully with berry-based desserts and soft cheeses. We particularly recommend it alongside a Camembert millefeuille or fresh berry clafoutis. Store your bottle upright in a cool, dry place. Once opened, enjoy within 2-4 months to experience its optimal character.
