Winemaking Process | The foundation for this Carneros Chardonnay is the winery's own Lewis Vineyard, with additions from neighboring Beckstoffer Vineyards in Napa-Carneros and Sangiacomo Vineyards located in Sonoma-Carneros. This thoughtful blending of fruit from both sides of the Carneros appellation creates a wine with remarkable depth and regional character.
The wine was harvested between September 18 and November 11, 2023, then barrel fermented in French oak (34% new, 33% once-filled, and 33% twice-filled barrels) for 9 months. To achieve the desired texture and complexity, the winemaking team practiced a long, cold fermentation followed by partial malolactic fermentation to soften the naturally high acidity. Regular bâtonnage (hand-stirring the lees) was employed throughout aging to promote depth and longevity in the finished wine.

Winemaker's Insight | Texture and complexity are the hallmarks of fine Chardonnay. The careful balance between fruit expression, oak integration, and acidity creates a wine that offers immediate pleasure while promising graceful aging. The cool Carneros climate allows for extended hang time, developing deeper flavors while preserving the grape's natural acidity.
Food Pairing | This versatile Chardonnay pairs beautifully with roasted chicken, grilled seafood, creamy pasta dishes, and soft ripened cheeses. Its balanced structure and bright acidity make it an excellent complement to rich dishes while remaining refreshing enough to enjoy on its own.
Cellaring Potential | While delightful upon release, this Chardonnay will continue to evolve and develop additional complexity for 3-5 years when stored under proper conditions.
