A centuries-old Beaujolais with fresh vibrancy, this Gamay from Domaine Dupeuble blends deep tradition with a generous, fruit-forward personality—an ideal red for any table, season, or gathering.
Taste
The 2023 vintage opens with ripe, dark berries, violet, and a hint of licorice, offering aromas that echo its proximity to the Rhône. On the palate, it’s juicy and supple, with tangy red cherry, blackberry, and savory notes that give way to a silky texture and thirst-quenching finish. A fuller-bodied style of Beaujolais, but still nimble and refreshing—perfect for grilled sausages, tomato salads, or late-night cheese boards.
About the Winery/Winemaker
Domaine Dupeuble has been producing wine continuously since 1512, making it one of the oldest domaines in Beaujolais. Today, the estate is run by Ghislaine and Stéphane Dupeuble, descendants of founder Anna Dupeuble, and is located in the hamlet of Le Breuil in southern Beaujolais. The estate farms 42 hectares of vines—some between 50 and 100 years old—planted to Gamay on a mix of granite, limestone, and golden "pierres dorées" soils. Farming follows lutte raisonnée (sustainable practices), and all grapes are hand-harvested, fermented naturally without sulfur, and aged in cement and stainless steel to preserve purity and freshness.
Why We Love It
This is one of those wines that tastes like friendship in a glass. Ghislaine signs her emails “Avec toutes mes amitiés Beaujolaises”—and that warmth comes through in the wine. The 2023 vintage gave generous fruit and vibrant acidity, and this bottle over-delivers with its depth, versatility, and value. It’s a standout for weekday sipping, festive feasts, and everything in between.
