A rare and final release from Washington’s esteemed Red Heaven Vineyard, the 2022 Liberty Lake Zinfandel is a lighter, Primitivo-style red with layered fruit, savory spice, and an elegant finish—crafted in just 195 cases before the vineyard's vines were removed.
Taste
Lively and expressive, this Zinfandel opens with notes of thyme, dried apricot, and juicy plum, evolving into a soft cola finish with gentle spice. Lighter in body than many domestic Zinfandels, it offers freshness and balance, making it ideal for warmer days or versatile food pairings.
About the Winery/Winemaker
Liberty Lake Wine Cellars, located in eastern Washington, is known for small-lot, site-driven wines that highlight the best of Red Mountain AVA. This bottling comes from Red Heaven Vineyard, a prized site whose Zinfandel vines have now been removed—making this the final vintage from this location. Aged for 18 months in 25% new French oak, the wine shows finesse and a distinctly elegant, old-world style rarely seen in Zinfandel from this region.
Why We Love It
This wine is both a collector's piece and a pleasure to drink. It’s a lighter-bodied Zinfandel with a nod to Italian Primitivo—aromatic, food-friendly, and beautifully balanced. With only 195 cases produced and the vineyard no longer in existence, it’s a hidden gem you won’t see again.
