A bold yet elegant expression of Spain’s signature grape, this organic Monastrell from Bodegas Juan Gil combines depth, spice, and freshness in a convenient 3-liter format. Sourced from old vines grown on rocky limestone soils at 700 meters above sea level, it offers both character and unbeatable value.
Taste
Deep violet in the glass, the wine opens with aromas of spicy cherry, cassis, and wild herbs. On the palate, taut flavors of dark berries and bitter cherry are lifted by notes of cracked black pepper. Firm yet approachable tannins carry through the finish, leaving lingering spice and freshness.
About the Winery/Winemaker
Founded in 1916, Bodegas Juan Gil is the benchmark producer of Jumilla, today led by the family’s fourth generation. Their organically farmed Monastrell vineyards thrive in high-altitude limestone soils, where dry farming and natural practices yield concentrated yet balanced fruit. Grapes are hand-harvested and vinified at their fully off-grid, solar-powered winery—uniting tradition with sustainability.
Why We Love It
This is Monastrell in its purest form: spicy, fruit-driven, and full of personality. The bag-in-box format delivers four bottles’ worth of high-quality wine that stays fresh for weeks, making it perfect for everyday pours, casual gatherings, or keeping a reliable house red on hand.
