A radiant expression of white Burgundy from one of the Côte de Beaune’s rising stars. Domaine Berthelemot’s 2019 Sous Frétille Premier Cru captures the finesse of high-altitude Chardonnay with elegance, texture, and depth.

Taste | This Premier Cru opens with aromas of almond, ripe orchard fruit, and a whisper of white flowers. On the palate, it’s silky and fleshy, unfolding into a long, mineral-driven finish that reflects its hillside terroir. The pale gold hue hints at the wine’s richness, while the brisk acidity brings lift and structure.

About the Winery/Winemaker | Founded in Meursault, Domaine Berthelemot is a family-run estate committed to organic farming and authentic expressions of Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune. Since 2021, all wines have been certified organic. The estate farms 15 hectares across prestigious appellations with a clear focus on sustainability, terroir transparency, and finesse in the cellar.

Why We Love It | This wine is often dubbed the “little Charlemagne” by locals—and for good reason. It has the pedigree of its Grand Cru neighbor with a more approachable profile. The elevation and white marl soils bring clarity and precision, making it a standout for lovers of refined, mineral-rich Chardonnay. A brilliant food wine or contemplative sipper.
