The palate presents a pleasant mix of ripe berry fruits, a hint of dark chocolate, notes of herbs, tobacco, olives and characteristic white-pepper spice. It is silky smooth and medium bodied, with ample structure and creaminess. The berry fruit flavors are soft but enduring, complemented by gentle mature tannins and signature black pepper and spices.

  • Barbecue and everyday Italian cuisine
  • Casserole dishes, red meat, stews, lamb, and sausages
  • Traditional Chilean preparations such as corn dishes (pastel de choclo, humitas)
  • Porotos granados (beans) and empanadas

Producer Information Bodega Volcanes de Chile, owned by Viña Undurraga, focuses on exploring the diversity of volcanic wines throughout Chile. There is no shortage of volcanoes in Chile (over 2,000 in fact, 500 of which are active!) and it is this unique geology that has inspired the Volcanes de Chile range. Winemaker Pilar Diaz works with vineyards in six different wine regions (Malleco, Maule, Maipo, Cachapoal, Leyda, and Colchagua) to explore the diversity of volcanic wines in Chile while seeking fresh and energetic expressions of each terroir. While the winery is based in Maipo, the team sources grapes from various volcanic soils across the country to create their distinctive wines.
