A bright, featherweight Grenache with soul, the 2022 Illahe Wahluke Slope Grenache brings an Oregon touch to Washington fruit—light, aromatic, and earthy with just enough spice to keep things interesting. Think Pinot vibes with a Mediterranean twist.
Taste
Delicate and translucent in color, this Grenache opens with lifted aromas of tart cherry, raspberry, citrus peel, and dried herbs like rosemary and sage. The palate is light and graceful, offering red strawberry, orange zest, a flicker of leather, and a whisper of black pepper. Bright acidity and ultra-soft tannins carry through the clean, fresh finish.
About the Winery/Winemaker
Illahe Vineyards is based in Oregon’s Willamette Valley and is known for its sustainable, hands-on winemaking rooted in tradition. With a deep respect for natural fermentation, minimal intervention, and old-world techniques, Illahe brings that same ethos to their small-production bottlings from Washington State. This Grenache hails from Mattawa Vineyards on the Wahluke Slope, one of Washington’s warmest and driest AVAs. The grapes were fermented with native yeasts, aged in neutral French oak, and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Why We Love It
We love how this wine walks the line between playful and serious—it’s light-bodied and fruit-forward, but with savory undertones and that Illahe texture we’ve come to adore. If you love Pinot but want to branch out, this is your next bottle. Perfect for weeknight sips, rustic pastas, or even a slight chill.
