Vineyard and Vintage Notes
Davis Bynum has a pioneering history in the Russian River Valley, being the first winery to produce a single-vineyard Pinot Noir from this now-famous region. While the brand is now owned by Rodney Strong Wine Estates, the commitment to quality and expression of terroir continues.
The 2022 vintage in the Russian River Valley was characterized by a relatively mild growing season after early spring frost concerns. Summer brought even, moderate temperatures allowing for gradual and ideal ripening. The resulting wines show excellent balance between fruit expression, structural acidity, and overall complexity.
The River West Vineyard, a primary source for this Chardonnay, sits on the western edge of the Russian River Valley where cooling fog and marine breezes help maintain acidity and slow ripening for optimal flavor development.
