Taste | Vibrant and complex, this Pinot Noir opens with aromatic layers of fresh cranberries, blood orange zest, wild strawberries, cherry lollipop, and lightly toasted walnuts. The palate reveals bright acidity alongside notes of pomegranate, strawberry preserves, wild game, rhubarb, and toasted brioche. A round mouthfeel and long, structured finish make this an expressive wine with both elegance and intrigue.
About the Winery/Winemaker | Whitehall Lane Winery, established in 1979 and based in St. Helena, is known for its meticulous small-lot production and commitment to showcasing the nuances of Napa and Sonoma terroirs. Winemaker Jason Moulton leads the team with a focus on balance and site expression. The Sonoma Stage Vineyard Pinot Noir is sourced from a cool-climate site in the Petaluma Gap and features four heritage clones: Calera, Swan, 115, and 667. The grapes are cold-soaked, fermented with selected yeasts, and aged in French oak (35% new) for 14 months before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Why We Love It | This Pinot Noir strikes a rare harmony between finesse and wild character. Its fruit-forward brightness and savory layers make it a versatile pairing wine for year-round dining. The expression of Petaluma Gap terroir—with wind influence and marine layers—is beautifully captured in this limited-production bottling.
