VITICULTURE

Sourced primarily from Sokol Blosser's certified organic estate vineyards in the Dundee Hills, complemented by select Willamette Valley vineyards with similar sustainability practices. Vines grow in Jory soils (red volcanic clay loam) that impart distinctive mineral characteristics to the wine. The 2022 vintage in Oregon was characterized by a cool spring followed by a moderate summer, allowing for steady, even ripening and excellent flavor development while maintaining bright acidity. Harvest took place in late September and early October under ideal conditions.

VINIFICATION

Hand-harvested grapes were whole-cluster pressed to preserve delicate aromatics. Fermentation occurred in 100% stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures (55-60°F) to maximize fruit expression and aromatic intensity. The wine was aged for 5 months on fine lees with periodic stirring to enhance texture and complexity. No malolactic fermentation was allowed to maintain crisp acidity. Minimal intervention winemaking techniques were employed, including limited fining and filtration before bottling.

TASTING NOTES

Appearance: Brilliant pale straw with silver highlights and excellent clarity.

Nose: Vibrant and fresh with pronounced aromas of ripe pear, crisp apple, and white peach. Secondary notes of orange blossom, lemongrass, and wet stone create complexity, while subtle hints of honey add depth without sweetness.

Palate: Medium-bodied with a lively, refreshing mouthfeel balanced by textural richness from lees aging. Flavors mirror the nose with juicy Bosc pear, Golden Delicious apple, and citrus zest at the forefront. The mid-palate shows distinctive Willamette Valley minerality and a touch of white pepper. The finish is clean, crisp, and persistent with lingering notes of green apple and lime.

FOOD PAIRING

This versatile Pinot Gris pairs beautifully with Pacific Northwest seafood, especially Dungeness crab, pan-seared scallops, or cedar-plank salmon. Also excellent with lighter poultry dishes, fresh goat cheese, or vegetarian fare like summer salads and roasted vegetables with herbs. The wine's bright acidity makes it an ideal partner for dishes with citrus elements or as an aperitif.
