Taste
Elegant and expressive, this Blanc de Noirs Champagne opens with aromas of ripe orchard fruit, almond, and brioche. On the palate, it’s rich yet refined, delivering crisp apple, pear, and buttery pastry with a creamy mousse, soft texture, and stony mineral finish. The long aging on the lees (36 months) lends depth, finesse, and a fine, persistent bead.
About the Winery/Winemaker
The Moutard family has been producing Champagne in the southern village of Buxeuil since 1642, long before Côte des Bar was embraced as part of the region. Known for their rebellious spirit and devotion to quality, the Moutards are pioneers of Pinot Noir in this once-overlooked subregion. Today, the family-run house is helmed by siblings François, Agnès, and Véronique, continuing the tradition of sustainable farming and meticulous cellar work that defines this grower-producer.
Why We Love It
This is a Champagne that overdelivers—an underdog story in a bottle. Made entirely from Pinot Noir grown in clay-limestone soils, it’s both crowd-pleasing and complex, with fine bubbles and flavors that complement everything from cheese boards to roast chicken. If you're looking for grower Champagne without the prestige pricing, this is the one to reach for.
