You’d swear it was Champagne—until you see the price.
This gorgeous traditional method sparkler from the historic village of Limoux in Southern France brings all the elegance and polish of fine French bubbly, without the Champagne price tag. Crafted from Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Mauzac, and Pinot Noir, it’s pale gold in the glass with a delicate mousse and bright aromatics of dried apple slices, pear skin, citrus peel, rose petal, and crushed chalk.
On the palate, it’s round and vibrant, with a refreshing citrus backbone that lifts generous flavors of white peach, pineapple, and orchard fruit, while the Mauzac lends an herbal edge and a unique floral intrigue. A subtle leesy richness rounds out the mouthfeel, making this a bottle that punches far above its weight.
Winemaking & Sustainability
Made by Henri Albrus at the sustainably farmed, 30-hectare Domaine J. Laurens, just outside the famed town of Carcassonne, this Crémant de Limoux is crafted using the same traditional method as Champagne and aged on the lees to develop complexity and depth. The domaine has been solely focused on sparkling wines since 1980 and continues to raise the bar for quality in the Languedoc.
Why We Love It
In blind tastings, this often fools people for real Champagne. The price? Usually about a third of a bottle of Veuve. We’ll take three of these, thanks. Ideal for brunches, parties, spontaneous celebrations, or just a Friday night at home.
