Taste
Deep ruby in the glass with purple hues, Lagone opens with a delicate, inviting nose of cherry, vanilla, herbs, and a subtle savory edge. On the palate, it’s dry and structured yet refined, showing flavors of ripe plum, cherries, wild berries, and gentle spice. Smooth tannins and balanced acidity carry through a long, elegant finish that feels both polished and effortless—this is a wine that truly shines at the table.
About the Winery / Winemaker
Aia Vecchia was founded in 1996 and is owned by the Pellegrini family. Lagone is the estate’s flagship wine, first created in 1998 by the late Tibor Gal after his tenure at Ornellaia. Sourced from vineyards in Bibbona near Bolgheri and Orbetello in the Maremma, Lagone represents Aia Vecchia’s philosophy: delivering the highest possible quality at a reasonable price. The wine blends international varieties with Tuscan terroir, resulting in a refined, modern expression of the region.
Why We Love It
Lagone is a go-to “crowd pleaser” Super Tuscan. It has enough structure and depth for serious red wine drinkers, but it’s smooth, versatile, and food-friendly enough to open any night of the week. If someone loves Bordeaux-style blends or Bolgheri reds, this is an easy yes.
